Jude Hamilton, BSc (Hons), MRes
Jude is an ornithological specialist with a broad ecological background. She is principally involved with Aquatera’s marine renewable energy projects; providing expert ecological advice and support for a number of large scale EIAs and has been involved in the development of environmental monitoring plans for a number of tidal developers at the European Marine Energy Centre. She has completed two nationally strategic projects involving the identification and prioritisation of potential environmental impacts associated with marine renewable energy development for the Scottish Government and The Crown Estate; again providing expert marine scientific support and engaging with regulators and key stakeholders across the UK.
Jude has also planned, undertaken and managed all of Aquatera’s ornithological survey and consultancy work for onshore wind, marine renewables and other energy and infrastructure development projects. Through this she has developed a strong combination of practical survey, data reporting and interpretive reporting skills. Jude has a wide experience of analysing and presenting ornithological survey data, undertaking environmental impact assessments and Habitats Regulations Appraisals and has been involved in assessing survey and monitoring requirements for both demonstration and commercial scale marine energy projects. She has strong ecological skills and an excellent understanding of UK protected species and nature conservation legislation. She also has excellent species identification skills with over 14 years’ knowledge and practical experience of the local ecology in Orkney and Caithness.
