Claire Palmer, BA (Hons), MA

Associate

Claire spent the first half of her career as an independent researcher, conducting evaluative research working with clients from academic institutions, the Home Office to Premiership Football Clubs. This encompassed data collection, analysis and presentation, identifying key stakeholders, one-to-one interviews, focus groups, coding and analysis, interim and final evaluative reports, including onward recommendations.

Subsequent to this, Claire spent a decade working in Business Development within the Ports industry, with a primary focus on strategic planning and developing opportunities around general cargo, marine renewable energy, fishing and aquaculture expansion within Wales.

In 2015, she established an independent Consultancy ‘Dragonfly Project Delivery’ and has been contracted to deliver work packages - including site and funding development - for clients such as Port of Milford Haven, Marine Energy Wales, Stenaline, Seafish, Leask Marine (International Marine Contractors) and Greenseas Resources Ltd (Seaweed Commercial Use).

Claire is an experienced business development, project management and marketing professional, with a focus on the marine environment. She has been involved in strategic development and diversification across the above sectors and continues to advise and work alongside businesses aligned with sustainable development with a marine focus.

A member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and PRINCE2 Practitioner, Claire is skilled at seeing market trends, identifying gaps and creating opportunities for diversification. She finds the right development partners and grants to generate positive outputs.

Claire also has a separate company focused on editing and writing services.

Claire has a passion for good food, local produce and sustainability. She is currently developing a cosmetic and health product business utilising native seaweeds. In her spare time, Claire enjoys travel, outdoor swimming, surfing, stand up paddle boarding, walking and cooking (although not all at the same time!).
