Aquatera was delighted to collect the Best Exporter award for the fourth consecutive year, at this year’s Energy North Awards ceremony, which took place in Inverness on the 4th September.

The company picked up the award, in recognition of the global activities undertaken from its Stromness base, ensuring that Orkney, the Highlands and Islands and Scotland have a high profile internationally in the renewables industry and are recognised as leaders in their field.

Over 250 people from across the region attended the awards ceremony to celebrate and  recognise the suppliers, brokers, product manufacturers, experts and consultants who are proving their own excellence by working in the oil and gas, renewables, hydro, biomass and nuclear industry.

Speaking of the award, Dr Gareth Davies, Managing Director at Aquatera said: “We’re delighted to have won the Best Exporter award again in 2014. This is our fifth Energy North award, which is testament to the hard work of our dedicated team of staff, associates and partners at Aquatera, who assist in the delivery of projects around the world.  Our experience, coupled with our innovative and unique approach within the renewables sector, has led to a substantial growth in worldwide projects, with the company currently leading a bid to set up an International Centre of Excellence in marine renewable energy in Chile, as well as on-going development work in France, Canada, Kazakhstan, USA and Japan.”

Orkney had further success on the night with locally based Leask Marine collecting the Best Renewable Energy Service Supplier award.
