Aquatera at the DataLab’s Data Summit, Edinburgh International Conference Centre
On November 2nd and 3rd, Aquatera’s Thibault Gras and Luke Fraser, attended the DataLab’s Data Summit at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, as part of a team of the Islands Centre for Net Zero (ICNZ) members, including Laura Hutton (EMEC) and Meng Wu (ICIT).
The event focus was on the current and future role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning in all areas of society, and presented a fantastic opportunity for the team to meet data professionals across a wide range of sectors (research, public and third sector, industry). The team was delighted to be present to engage with and hear from experts in the fields of ethics, governance, diversity and inclusion, space travel and many more, including government representatives.
Thibault Gras, Consultant at Aquatera Ltd shared: “As we’re working on building our data exchange to support island decarbonisation, the Data Summit presented a great opportunity to learn from experts how we can make our work relevant, accessible and inclusive. We noted however, that the potential role of data and AI in supporting environmental regeneration was underrepresented in the talks, and we are eager to contribute to this discussion and practice through our work in the ICNZ project“
Luke Fraser, Senior Consultant at Aquatera Ltd, added: “It was great to see a number of small companies and organisations developing data products related to what we’re trying to do through ICNZ, and that there was interest and potential in working with some of them.“
