2007: Scottish Planning Awards Commendation

Aquatera completed project work for The Highland Council in developing a Renewable Energy Strategy and was recognised through the Scottish Planning Awards. The judges commented that the work provided “a comprehensive tool that allows the Council to influence development in the long term, both in terms of economic development and planning policy. We were impressed that the product is adaptable and can be developed in the future to suit changing circumstances. A substantial body of work was carried out over a relatively short period of time considering the detail that the document covers. We consider that this strategy will be a useful tool to the Council, developers and the community and will ensure clarity and consistency in decision making.”

One of the very first contracts secured by Aquatera, was to provide environmental support to the Magnus EOR project in the northern North Sea. This project later achieved a key Helios award for human endeavour and the environmental programme that Aquatera had done so much to inspire was rewarded with a special commendation. Many of the approaches adopted in the project have now been adopted as best practice within BP's activities.
