Aquatera participates in Scottish Development International Ministerial Meetings – Jakarta and Singapore

Aquatera was invited by the Scottish Development International (SDI) to present and participate in the Ministerial Meetings of the Scottish Government in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Singapore from 13 - 17 February, 2023. The company’s visit coincided with that of Ivan McKee, Scot Gov Minister for Business, Trade, Tourism and Enterprise, to discuss wide-ranging areas of collaboration between the Scottish Government and the Southeast Asian countries, including energy transition, space, food and drink.

In Indonesia, Aquatera Group CEO Dr Gareth Davies presented Aquatera’s current projects and efforts in the Blue Economy area, specifically those focusing on sustainable island energy transition. As well as the SDI meeting in Jakarta, Dr Davies also attended various meetings with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), Indonesia, discussing potential future collaborations in the Blue Energy for Blue Economy. Pertamina, a state-owned energy company in Indonesia, also expressed interest in collaborating with Aquatera in offshore renewable sectors like tidal, offshore wind, and floating marine solar. Whilst in country, Dr Davies also continued ongoing collaborative discussions with Aquatera's long-standing partners Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) and Universitas Nasional (UNAS).

While in Singapore, Dr Davies and Dr Mary Ann Franco, Senior Consultant, met and had productive discussions with Minister Ivan McKee, the GlobalScots, and other Scottish and Singaporean companies on knowledge and technology sharing between Scotland and Singapore, potential joint collaborations on sustainable energy technologies like hydrogen, and working together on future funding opportunities. The Aquatera team also participated in the launch of the Scotland Food & Drink Festival where the team engaged with the Scottish diaspora in Singapore to create potential future business partnerships.
