Michael Cromby, BA(Hons), MSc, FRSPH, MCIEH, CIHCM

Senior Consultant

Michael is a Senior Consultant with decades' experience in the Built Environment with a specific focus on Housing and Health. Prior to joining Aquatera in March 2024, he worked for 10 years across the Highlands and Islands for Scotland’s leading environmental charity, Changeworks, delivering the Scottish Government funded Home Energy Scotland service. Within this role he carried out detailed home energy assessments and provided bespoke reports tailored to dwelling type and householders needs. A key aspect of this role was building partnerships with local community groups and stakeholders in some of Scotland's more remote rural island communities.

For 14 years Michael worked in local government within Housing Management and Environmental Health. As a registered Environmental Health Practitioner he was responsible for ensuring housing standards were improved and the health and wellbeing of occupants protected. Applying the recently introduced Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and using both formal and informal approaches, he was tasked with ensuring some of the borough's more vulnerable residents were in safe and secure dwellings.

More recently Michael has obtained a Trustmark accreditation as a Retrofit Coordinator and Retrofit Assessor in addition to level one certification as an Airtightness tester and Thermographer.
