Agung is a materials engineer with research interests in biofouling and corrosion of marine renewable energy infrastructures. He was Research Fellow for CSERM Universitas Nasional (UNAS) from 2015 to 2019 with various projects funded by Global Challenge Research Fund - UKRI, British Council Newton Fund programmes, and Department for International Development (DfID), UK.

He was a Project Manager for GCRF Blue Communities Project – Indonesia Case Study (2017-2019), working on overarching projects in Takabonerate Biosphere Reserve - Selayar Islands, including marine renewable energy. He was also a Visiting Fellow at Robert Gordon University in 2014 working on a “Feasibility Study for the Implementation of Marine Energy in Indonesia” and leading collaboration on a marine energy development project, which was funded by the British Council under its Institutional Links programme.

Within the Aquatera team, Agung works primarily in the areas of Energy Transition, Renewable Energy, and Blue Energy for Blue Economy in Indonesia. Including supporting the Prosperity Fund – Mentari Programme, especially for Blue Energy programme. He also assisted in establishing the Indonesia Blue Energy for Blue Economy Centre of Excellence (IBEC), an Academic-Industry Consortium Partnership between the UK and Indonesia. He works closely with Heriot-Watt University, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya, and PT. ITS Tekno Sains as consortium founders in developing Blue Energy for Blue Economy projects in Indonesia.
