Interview with Dr Gareth Davies, Managing Director of Aquatera, Published in energyengineering Magazine

An interview with Aquatera Ltd’s Managing Director, Dr Gareth Davies, has been published in issue eighteen of the renewable energy publication, energyengineering magazine (www.energyengineering.co.uk).

The article, entitled Treasure islands, describes the ‘renewables revolution’ that has been taking place in Orkney and how Aquatera has been at the forefront of promoting renewables in the archipelago.

It goes on to highlight how Aquatera has carried out strategic planning, public and stakeholder communications, environmental assessment and surveying, and technical and operational support for many of the major players in the renewables sector. These include the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC; www.emec.org.uk), the tidal energy device manufacturer, OpenHydro (www.openhydro.com), and the wave energy converter company, Pelamis Wave Power (PWP; www.pelamiswave.com).

The article concludes that Orkney has the potential resources for 5 GW of renewable energy and also the people, the desire and the need to make it happen.
